Search Engine Optimization (SEO) requires a comprehensive marketing strategy that is carefully considered during the Planning Phase. If the site is already in existence, a major overhaul or site redesign may be required to properly optimize pages for natural search results. For example, if the site has Flash as navigation, it will have to be converted into simple graphics and text as the search engines will not recognize Flash files. If the Web site is a database driven Web site and it uses parameters to designate the page name such as “option_com_content&task=105&item”, output HTML may have to be altered search engine friendly names, such as “complementary-care.html”
